The Best in the Industry

How Does Chrysler Give a Life-time Power Train Warranty on Its Least Expensive Vehicles Like the Compass, Patriot, and Sebring?

First you take the most advanced engines….

World Engines Facts

Made by the Global Engine Manufacturing Alliance (GEMA), and marketed by Chrysler as the World engines; they started replacing the earlier 4 cylinder Chrysler engines in 2006. These engines boast advanced technologies including dual variable valve timing and a flow-control valve intake manifold. The basic engines were designed jointly by Chrysler, Mitsubishi, and Hyundai, and are made and used by all three - in different configurations.

Specifics: The aluminum block has cast iron cylinder liners, and different liners can be fitted to alter the engine's bore. The heads feature electro-hydraulic variable valve timing on both the intake and exhaust side. The system was based on that used by the recent Mercedes 24-valve V6 and is quite sophisticated and expensive for a low-end engine.

Benefits:

•        Reduced Emissions: The 2.4L World engine reached ULEV II emissions standards for reduced pollution and greater environmental friendliness

•        Increased Fuel Economy: Increased gas mileage by 5% over the previous line of four cylinder engines

•        Leaders not Followers: Chrysler was the first company to offer dual VVT in the United States on entry-level vehicles

•        Higher precision components and assembly: yield longer lasting engines which have been tested for over 3 million miles longevity

•        Better performance and durability: that lay the foundation for an industry exclusive warranty

Second you mate that advanced precision efficient engine with the smoothest, most advanced transmission:

Jatco CVT2 Transmission Facts

CVT Basics: The CVT (continuously variable transmission) is usually coupled with AutoStick; which is a user selectable “gear” that the vehicle’s computer is programmed to mimic traditional automatic transmissions “shift points.” Benefits and explanations below:

  • Fewer moving parts: The transmission uses two V pulleys and a steel push belt to vary the input speed to output speed ratio instead of traditional discrete gear ratios activated by clutches or bands.
  • Better Power Transfer: The transmission engages the torque converter clutch almost immediately when accelerating and keeps engaged throughout speed changes thereby eliminating slippage and increasing efficiency, especially in city driving.
  • Better Fuel Efficiency: Optimized gear ratios, especially in the 30-60 mph range, improve passing and feel more responsive. Continuously varying the transmission ratio allows the engine to stay in its most efficient operating range. The CVT brings a 6-8 percent improvement in fuel economy compared with a traditional four-speed automatic.
  • Economy of a Manual with the ease of an automatic: Compared to a normal Automatic transmission: Normal Automatic transmissions typically rob about 20% of the engines power before it hits the wheels, manual transmissions rob only 3% of power. CVT drivers should note that unlike an automatic transmission, there is no part-throttle downshift. To get full acceleration you press the gas down more. The engine will not change rpm as you accelerate so don't be fooled by the sounds - you are accelerating!

And third, you give it the best warranty ever in the automotive business…

Life-time Power-train Warranty

Chrysler has leapfrogged every other car maker by extending its power train warranty on every new car and truck it sells to the life of the vehicle. The warranty will apply to the entire power train including the engine, transmission/transaxle, drive shafts, and axles.

The warranty covers all parts and labor as long as the owner brings the car in to a Chrysler dealer at least once every five years for a free power train inspection. Apparently, the only fly in the ointment is that the new warranty applies to the original owner and is not transferableUNLESS THE CUSTOMER PURCHASES THE LIFETIME EXTENDED WARRANTY which then allows for a one time transfer to the second owner

Otherwise, if the car is sold within the first three years, the warranty reverts to the previous 3 year/36,000 mile coverage for subsequent owners.

The New Chrysler Lifetime Power train Warranty – the first from an OEM and the longest in the industry – is a statement of confidence in the reliability of Chrysler products

The Warranty covers the cost of all parts and labor needed to repair covered power train components – engine, transmission and drive system

The warranty provides worry-free ownership for new Chrysler and Jeep® owners

And what you end up with are award winning, fuel efficient vehicles that aren’t starved for power and are guaranteed to last…A LIFETIME!
